FAQS

WHY SHOULD I WORK WITH A PROFESSIONAL COACH?

“When two or more people focus positively on a vision, the result is synergy - dynamic forward moving energy. This is more possible through coaching than it is in many other professional relationships because the coach holds no agenda other than the client’s. ”

You should consider working with a professional coach if you want to bridge the gap between where you are currently, and where you’d like to be. Maybe you want to figure out how to go from your current job to operating your own startup, or you’d love to move abroad, or navigate life after a big breakup. Amy has professional experience as an objective motivator, sounding board, and accountability partner. If you have the dream, she can actually help you make it a reality.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN COACHING AND THERAPY?

Coaching is a co-creative, collaborative relationship between coach and client. Coaching is not therapy, and therefore not meant to diagnose, address, or resolve more serious psychiatric or chronic mental health or behavioral issues such as trauma, neuroses, depression, or addictions. Therapists focus more on a client’s past to process and heal problematic issues, behaviors, and thought-patterns. Coaches meet clients where they are currently, and work together to enact change toward achieving a client’s future goals.

Further thoughts on the difference between coaching and therapy:

“Therapists work with clients that need or want professional help to work towards healing, recovery, and issue resolution.

Coaches work with clients who want a detached partner to help them enhance their lives through action.
Therapists are experts in medical and behavioral sciences trained to treat diagnosable conditions.
Coaches use questions and reflection to highlight their client’s strengths and areas in need of development and then help the client uncover their own wisdom and solutions.
Therapists are required to keep their personal feelings and thoughts removed.
Coaches use personal disclosure as a tool to catalyze and challenge their clients.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM THE COACHING PROCESS?

The relationship between a coach and client is co-creative, meaning they are equals. Your coach in not a therapist or counselor. They are a trained coach using honed communication skills to support you as a thinking partner. As a team, you will create more momentum, energy, and focus for you to effect meaningful change and take actions towards your goals.

Our complimentary Vision Building Session is the first interaction you have with your BMB coach. This session allows you to explore and prioritize the goals you’d like to achieve, and if you are a good fit as a coach-client team. At the end of this session, you are given the opportunity to embark on the deeper work that will get you from your vision to your goal.

Investing in yourself now pays off big in the long run. That’s why we offer packages tailored to your unique vision. Each goal is individual and has its own timeline. Your coach can help you decide what package will be the best fit for you moving forward.
